Panel Products: Sales Manager (UK) – Industrial and Building Products

We have been retained to recruit an exceptional Sales Manager for our client, a market leading manufacturer of various high quality panel products with turnover exceeding €330m.

Following a period of sustained growth, the company is currently completing a multi-million pound upgrade to one of its manufacturing facilities and, as such, is restructuring the UK Sales Team by recruiting a Sales Manager to lead sales into the Industrial and Building Products sector.

Reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering strategy for long-term sustainable sales of OSB and MDF products into the Industrial and Building Products sector, with emphasis on the offsite construction / manufacturing market and retention of the residual existing Industrial business.


  • Development, implementation and delivery of sector / market specific strategic business and sales plans in line with company requirements to increase revenue, volumes and market penetration
  • Proactively targeting new business and creating sustainable revenue streams through diligent management of customer base (both existing and new)
  • Develop focused marketing and branding programmes in partnership with the Marketing function
  • Provide technical assistance to current and potential customers including end user training
  • Engage with End users, Architects, and Specifiers to develop market demand and sustainable pull through sales of company product
  • Research and report on relevant sector/market business intelligence, including competitor activity, customer trends and innovative products
  • Lead, inspire and develop a sales team (both internal and external) into a robust, proactive and entrepreneurial unit. Performance manage, motivate and mentor sales team members
  • Key Account management at Board level
  • Produce periodic reports, forecasts and presentations as required

The Sales Manager is likely to possess the following:

  • Relevant 2:1 level degree (an MBA or similar Business level qualification is an advantage)
  • 5 years relevant experience at senior level, in Technical Sales and Marketing within industrial or building sector/markets (or related sectors)
  • Proven experience of managing staff
  • Excellent IT & presentation (MS office), report writing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of wood products’ regulations and standards, panel manufacture and end uses
  • Solid understanding of the dynamics within the Building Supplies, Manufacturing and Distribution industry
